Hot Flashes: A Success Story

I’d like to share a success story with you.

AA is a 45 year old female who came to me with hot flashes every day and night for the past FIVE YEARS. yes. Five. And I’m not talking little mini hot flashes. I’m talking sweaty, burning, intense flashes lasting for several minutes at a time and coming on in waves. The kind that you need to change your clothes and sheets after.

Needless to say, she wasn’t sleeping well. And, her work wardrobe was taking a major hit.

In addition to the flashes and insomnia, her periods were coming further apart from each other, getting heavier, and becoming more painful. She was finding it hard to focus during the day, and was been gaining weight.

She was tired.

After listening to her for five minutes, I knew how to help her.

The first thing we did was test her hormones using DUTCH. I like to test, not guess, when it comes to hormones. Sometimes, I’m surprised by what I find. This also gives me an idea of which system needs treatment the most – is it adrenal, thyroid, nutrient deficiencies, or lady hormones? This test gives us the answers we’re looking for.

Then I gave her a little bit of topical progesterone. She later described this as her “magic cream”. One tiny pump nightly was all she needed. Hot Flashes Gone.

I gave her a few herbs and a B12 shot too, to make things move along more quickly. These really helped her energy levels, and the weight started to come off.

Today, AA is actually enjoying her transition to menopause. Hard to believe right? Sometimes, it really is that simple.
