3 Beginner’s Juicing Recipes to Help You Live Long
Juicing is an easy way to get your 5-10 recommended daily servings of fruits and vegetables, which most people do not get but is SO important for achieving and maintaining excellent health.
The process of juicing extracts the insoluble fibre from the fruits and veggies, making the nutrients in the food easier for your body to absorb. As we age, our bodies become less capable of extracting nutrients from our food, which is one of the reasons Canadians are so chronically deficient in nutrients like magnesium, and vitamins B12 & D. Juicing will also provide a powerful boost to your immune system.
Let’s get juicing!
Recipe #1: The Bionic Beet
Ingredients:
- 4 beets, peeled
- 2 carrots, peeled
- 1 lemon, peeled
- 3 celery stalks
- 2 apples, peeled
Peel everything but the celery, and add this to your juicer. I recommend wearing gloves while peeling the beets to prevent your hands from staining red (this is because of the Betacyanins found in beets and some other veggies). This will yield 2 servings. Store the one that you don’t want to drink right away in an air-tight mason jar in your fridge. Enjoy!
Side note: Don’t be alarmed if your urine or bowel movements are red after The Bionic Beet. That’s just those Betacyanins at work!
Recipe #2: Glowing Green Juice
Ingredients:
- 1 cup spinach
- 1 cup kale
- 1 cucumber, peeled
- 3 sticks of celery
- 1 apple, peeled
- ½ lemon, peeled
- 1 inch piece of ginger
Add everything to your juicer and enjoy!
Recipe #3: The Powerful Peach Punch
Ingredients:
- 2 apples, peeled
- 5 carrots, peeled
- 2 peaches, peeled
- 1 large orange, peeled
- ½ lemon, peeled
Add everything to your juicer and enjoy!
PS you can save the insoluble fibre (pulp) and use it in other recipes!
